Data Dude to RTM on November 30

Microsoft is claiming that Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Database Professionals, aka DataDude, will RTM tomorrow.  Of course, the problem is that you must have Microsoft Visual Studio Team Suite installed before you can install DataDude.

Here is a blurb from Microsoft, encouraging you to upgrade to Team Suite:

Get the entire Microsoft Visual Studio Team Suite and not only save thousands when you step up from any Microsoft Visual Studio Team Edition with a Premium MSDN Subscription (formally MSDN Universal or MSDN Enterprise) but also receive Visual Studio Team Edition for Database Professionals at no additional cost as part of Team Suite when it releases.

I downloaded a trial edition of Team Suite, and installed it on a test machine, and was able to install and use CTP7 of DataDude with no problems. Now I just need to wade through the Microsoft bureaucracy to figure out how much it will cost to upgrade to Team Suite, so I can get Data Dude.

  1. test says:

I agree. It\’s time that application lifecycle management was added to database development in a serious way by Microsoft. Glad to see it happen. Goodbye Embarcadero. Hello Data Dude (DD) or "Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Database Professionals."🙂

I look forward to meeting Data Dude this coming year as I value add MCAD and MCDBA to my list of business and computer network engineering credentials.

Thanks for the feedback on this. Happy holidays.
