DailyTech has a good article about the upcoming mainstream quad-core Core2 and expanded dual-core Core2 product lineup from Intel. It’s amazing how well Intel has been able to bounce back from the disaster of the NetBurst Pentium 4 CPU, which dissipated so much heat, it could be used to fry eggs. It also performed very poorly compared to the AMD Athlon64 and Athlon X2.
Now, Intel has CPUs that perform better and use less power than AMD offers. There is really nothing AMD can do about it (except reduce prices) until H2 2007.
