SQL Server 2005 Management Studio Cannot Connect to a SQL Server 2008 Server

Not that this is any big surprise, but if you try to connect to a SQL Server 2008 server from a SQL Server 2005 version of SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), it will not work. You will get the dialog shown below:

 

 

You can however, go backwards from SQL Server 2008 SSMS to a SQL Server 2005 instance of SQL Server. This mirrors the behavior of SQL Server 2005/2000.
