Lots of Performance Benchmarks Released For SQL Server 2008

As part of the hoopla around the big Heroes Happen Here launch in Los Angeles today, a number of impressive database benchmark results for SQL Server 2008 were released today. The Microsoft SQL Server Performance blog has details here. These include both TPC-E and TPC-H results. I especially like this one, which is on a four socket, quad-core Xeon X7350. TPC-E is the new, OLTP benchmark that replaces the old TPC-C benchmark.

The same blog has another post showing how they were able to load over 1TB of flat file data in under 30 minutes, using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) on 64-bit SQL Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008. It is a pretty interesting read.
